To present the clinical features, management modalities, and response to treatment of the retinal vasoproliferative tumors (VPT) in a tertiary eye center. This is a retrospective interventional cohort study that included patients diagnosed with VPT between 2014 and 2024. The medical records of all patients were retrospectively reviewed. Eighteen eyes of 15 patients (44.12%) were included. The mean age of patients was 42.0 ± 12.6 years. The mean duration of follow-up was 70.6 ± 37.0 months. The most common location of VPT was inferotemporal (83.3%). Associated findings included subretinal fluid (100%), subretinal or intraretinal exudation (100%), and cystoid macular edema (66.7%). Significant visual improvements were achieved after intravitreal injections of bevacizumab, aflibercept, triamcinolone, and dexamethasone (P = 0.026), while significant reductions of the central subfoveal thickness were achieved after laser (P = 0.037) and pars plana vitrectomy (P = 0.034). Seven eyes had complete resolution, while 7 eyes had incomplete resolution, and 4 eyes had resistant tumors with clinical progression. The complete resolution type had significantly better visual outcomes than other types (P < 0.001). Subretinal fluid and intraretinal/subretinal exudations are prominent clinical features of VPT. There was a significant relationship between VPT classification based on the clinical response to treatment and the visual outcomes.

To systematically review the efficacy and safety of suprachoroidal injections of triamcinolone acetonide for the treatment of macular edema across various etiologies. A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, and Google Scholar for studies published between January 2010 and December 2025, in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Randomized controlled trials, prospective and retrospective clinical studies, and meta-analyses evaluating suprachoroidal triamcinolone acetonide in adult patients with macular edema were included. Primary outcomes were changes in best-corrected visual acuity and central macular thickness. Secondary outcomes included intraocular pressure elevation, cataract progression, and serious ocular adverse events. Twelve primary clinical studies met the inclusion criteria, including phase 3 randomized controlled trials, one integrated phase 3 analysis, one phase 2 randomized trial, and multiple prospective and retrospective observational studies, comprising a total of 571 treated eyes/patients. High-quality evidence was available for non-infectious uveitic macular edema, where suprachoroidal triamcinolone acetonide resulted in significantly greater visual and anatomical improvement compared with sham treatment, with 47.4% of patients achieving a ≥ 15-letter gain in visual acuity at 24 weeks compared to 16.7% in the control group (RR=2.84; P<0.001). In diabetic macular edema, consistent anatomical improvement was observed, although functional outcomes were heterogeneous. Evidence in retinal vein occlusion was limited but suggested potential benefit, particularly when used in combination with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy. Intraocular pressure elevation occurred in a minority of patients and was generally manageable. Cataract progression and serious ocular adverse events were uncommon. Suprachoroidal triamcinolone acetonide appears to be an effective and generally safe treatment option for macular edema, with the strongest evidence supporting its use in non-infectious uveitic macular edema. Evidence for diabetic macular edema and retinal vein occlusion remains limited, highlighting the need for further large-scale randomized controlled trials.

To identify the common management pathways in the treatment of pseudophakic cystoid macular edema (CME). A retrospective cohort study was conducted from 2005 to 2024 using the TriNetX United States Collaborative Network. Patients diagnosed with pseudophakic CME were included in the study, and patients with retinal comorbidities were excluded. Treatments initiated after the diagnosis of pseudophakic CME, including topical corticosteroids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), periocular and intravitreal (IVT) corticosteroids, antivascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) injections, suprachoroidal corticosteroids, and pars plana vitrectomy (PPV), were tracked, and treatment sequences and imaging use over time were analyzed. A total of 23 035 patients met the inclusion criteria, with a mean age of 72 years; 54% were women, and 68% identified as White. The incidence of pseudophakic CME increased from 2.45% in 2005 to 17.6% in 2024. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) use increased over time, becoming the most common imaging modality (used in 90% of cases), while 20% of patients underwent no imaging. No treatment was documented in 40% of patients. Among those treated, 77% received topical corticosteroids and/ or NSAIDs as first-line therapy, followed by IVT steroids (7.4%), periocular steroids (6.5%), PPV (3.4%), and anti-VEGF injections (2%). IVT steroids were the most common second-line treatment (10.2%), primarily dexamethasone implants (82.8%), followed by triamcinolone (12.2%). Use of newer agents, including fluocinolone acetonide implants and suprachoroidal triamcinolone, was uncommon. Despite the increased use of OCT and earlier detection of subclinical cases, a substantial proportion of patients with pseudophakic CME have no documented treatment. Topical steroids and/ or NSAIDs represent the most common first- line therapy, with IVT steroids commonly used after inadequate response to treatment.

We present the clinical course of a patient who developed punctate inner choroidopathy (PIC) followed by solitary punctate chorioretinitis (SPC), and subsequently developed choroidal neovascularization (CNV) after a prolonged period. We also discuss the importance of examination and diagnosis using multimodal imaging, as well as the significance of follow-up. A 35-year-old woman with high myopia presented with a one-week history of central visual disturbance in her left eye. Examination revealed multiple white dots in the left macula, but none in the right eye. Based on multimodal imaging findings typically for PIC, she was diagnosed with PIC and placed under observation. Three years after the initial visit, a solitary white dot appeared superonasal to the fovea in the right macula, leading to a diagnosis of SPC based on multimodal imaging. Although findings in both eyes gradually worsened thereafter, no CNV was observed. Thirteen and a half years after the onset of right eye findings, she presented with a complaint of rapid vision loss, and CNV was detected in the right eye; no CNV was observed in the left eye. Based on these results, the CNV was attributed to the SPC in the right eye, and treatment involving intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor agent injections and sub-Tenon's injections of triamcinolone acetonide was initiated. In this case, CNV developed 13 years after the confirmation of SPC. Thus, for cases of unilateral PIC, it is essential to bear in mind the potential for developing SPC and the subsequent risk of CNV arising from SPC over the long term, and to conduct regular evaluations using multimodal imaging.

Infectious or biofilm-related inflammatory complications after dermal filler injection are uncommon but may be recurrent and challenging to manage. We report the case of a 44-year-old woman with recurrent erythema, tenderness, and induration in the right tear trough/infraorbital region after facial filler injection performed at an outside facility (reportedly hyaluronic acid, but the filler type was unverified). She had a normal temperature and normal routine laboratory test results. Because ultrasound suggested a small, immature fluid collection and the patient preferred conservative treatment, no incision and drainage was performed. She was treated with repeated intralesional injections of 5-fluorouracil, triamcinolone acetonide, and hyaluronidase. After multiple relapses despite prior systemic antibiotic therapy (details unavailable), repeated intralesional combination therapy achieved sustained clinical resolution. A localized contour depression was noted during follow-up. Intralesional 5-fluorouracil with triamcinolone and hyaluronidase may be a salvage option for refractory postfiller inflammatory complications with suspected infectious/biofilm involvement, particularly when conventional approaches are unsuccessful. Further studies are needed to define indications and optimal dosing.
