Molecular Conversion of Thermally Stable Cu-Ag Networks for Mechanically Robust Printed Electronics.

Feng Qikun Q, Zhao Dennis D, von Keitz Samuel S, Martinez Chris A CA et al.

Copper-silver inks are promising for printed electronics owing to their high electrical conductivity and oxidation resistance, yet their practical use is limited by silver migration under thermal bias, structural aggregation during curing and sintering, and insufficient mechanical reliability. Here, we report a particle-free metal-organic reactive ink enabled by an in situ sequential reduction strategy, in which copper is first generated via self-reduction and subsequently coated with a conformal Ag shell through in situ electroless deposition. This process forms a percolative Ag-surface-enriched Cu conductive network without the use of preformed nanoparticles. By eliminating discrete particle precursors, the optimized conductor develops a dense, highly interconnected morphology and achieves a high electrical conductivity of 4.3 MS m- 1. The printed conductors retain stable electrical performance at temperatures up to 800°C and withstand thermal aging in ambient air at 700°C for 48 h. Structural analyses reveal that the conformal Ag shell preserves network continuity and suppresses high-temperature degradation. This particle-free strategy avoids the aggregation inherent to conventional particle-based inks, offering a scalable route to printed conductors with enhanced high-temperature electrical and mechanical reliability.

A Dichalcogenide-Protected Pt@Au12@Ag8 Nanocluster.

Chiu Tzu-Hao TH, Pillay Michael N MN, Kahlal Samia S, Saillard Jean-Yves JY et al.

Precise control over the location of heterometal atoms in alloy nanoclusters is essential for understanding how metal distribution governs superatomic structure and properties. Herein we show that PtAg20[S2P(OPr)2]12 (PtAg20) can serve as a structurally defined precursor for constructing a PtAu12 superatom copassivated by ligands and Ag atoms through redox-mediated Au-for-Ag exchange. Treatment of PtAg20 with an excess of Au(I) affords PtAu12Ag8[S2P(OPr)2]12 (PtAu12Ag8), in which substitution of Ag by Au occurs exclusively on the PtAg20 icosahedral core. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals a compact PtAu12 core encapsulated by two Ag4(dtp)6 (dtp = dithiophosphate) units. Unlike all the known silver-rich isoelectronic nanoclusters featuring a centered icosahedron protected by a Ag8(dtp)12 outer shell that adopt C3-type or C3-derived shell arrangements, PtAu12Ag8 displays a C2 geometry. Spectroscopic and mass-spectrometric measurements support the formation of the Au-rich cluster, while DFT calculations identify the [PtAu12]4+ core as an eight-electron superatom with a closed-shell 1S21P61D0 electronic configuration. This work demonstrates that selective replacement of the icosahedral cage can generate not only a new trimetallic superatomic core but also an unusual reconstruction of the surrounding Ag-ligand passivating layer.

Synthesis and Photocatalytic Decolorization Performance of a THPP/TiO2/Ag@ACF Aerogel Multiphase Composite.

Wang Gang G, Wang Yu Y, Yang Yi Y, Cheng Zhihua Z et al.

Recoverable photocatalysts with broad optical response are of interest for practical water treatment. A 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-hydroxyphenyl)porphyrin (THPP)/TiO2/Ag composite was prepared hydrothermally and immobilized on activated carbon fiber (ACF) aerogel by silane-assisted dip coating. The design combined potential THPP photosensitization and Ag-mediated interfacial effects with TiO2 photocatalytic sites and an adsorptive, recoverable ACF support. Structural and spectroscopic characterization supported incorporation of the components and changes in optical response and emission behavior. Overall apparent methylene blue removal reached 88.7% under UV irradiation and 88.0% under xenon-lamp irradiation. The concentration profiles were approximately fitted using an apparent pseudo-first-order model. Increasing the number of immersion cycles did not further improve the photocatalytic performance. These results demonstrate adsorption-assisted dye removal using an immobilized multiphase composite. The proposed charge-transfer pathway is presented as a mechanistic interpretation rather than a directly established electronic configuration.

Bivalent Ligand-Aptamer Binding-Cooperated Hybridization Assembly for Illuminating Ratiometric Fluorescence Biosensing of Convertible Ag Nanoclusters.

Long Min M, Chen Xiaoyu X, He Maolan M, Fu Yuchen Y et al.

To address low affinity and reaction rate in monovalent ligand-aptamer binding, herein, we propose a bivalent binding-cooperated hybridization assembly (bbHA) strategy to light up the ratiometric fluorescence of convertible Ag nanoclusters (cAgNC) for detecting adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Two identical repeats of ATP-recognizable aptamer splits (a1 and a2) are separately programmed in an aptamer templating strand (aT) and an aptamer converter strand (aC), while two pairs of cAgNC-clustering and emission-converting segments are tethered in aT (template-a1-a1-template) and aC (converter-a2-a2-converter), respectively. Two tandem red cAgNC emitters are preferably developed in aT. Upon presenting ATP, the affinity recognition by a specific aptamer (a1/a2) entity enables cooperative binding events for triggering rapid complementary hybridization of aT and aC. The other proximal a1/a2 pair is bulged and merged to speed up the second ATP affinity binding. The structurally stable aT·2ATP·aC complex is formed to orient two ended converters and clusters together, thereby modulating its red fluorescence into green through electronic interactions between Ag0 and particular nucleobases. The resulting signal ratio of dual-emissive cAgNC exhibits a linear dependence on ATP, achieving sensitive and accurate quantification via inherent built-in correction. In contrast to the monovalent mechanism, the bbHA-based strategy features superior assay performances such as higher target responsiveness, faster reaction kinetics, and more efficient transduction. Thus, this label-free method would offer a new paradigm to construct simplified, specific, robust, and cost-effective sensing platforms for applicable assay of various small-molecule analytes.

Imaging Features of Adrenal Glands Infiltration by Multicentric Lymphoma in Dogs and Cats.

Negro Linda L, Pey Pascaline P, Specchi Swan S, Penninck Dominique D et al.

Few case reports describe the imaging features of lymphoma involving the adrenal glands (AGs) in dogs and cats. This retrospective, descriptive, and multicentric study aimed to describe the ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of confirmed lymphomatous AG infiltration in patients with multicentric lymphoma. The inclusion criteria required cytological or histological confirmation of AG lymphoma and at least one imaging study. Eleven patients were included. Abdominal US was available in 10/11 patients (90%), CT in 2/11 patients (18%), and MRI in 1/11 patient (9%). Six patients (6/11, 54%) (5 dogs and 1 cat) had a bilateral involvement of the AGs, whereas the rest (5/11 patients, 54%) (3 dogs and 2 cats) had a unilateral involvement. On US, the findings included unilateral or bilateral enlargement with a preserved shape, hypoechoic and heterogeneous parenchyma, ill-defined or well-defined margins of the AGs, increased echogenicity of the surrounding retroperitoneal fat, and retroperitoneal effusion. On CT, one patient (1/11, 9%) with bilateral involvement showed enlargement of the AGs with multiple hypoattenuating and hypoenhancing nodules, whereas another patient (1/11, 9%) with unilateral involvement showed a hypoattenuating, hypoenhancing nodule in a rounded, heterogeneously enhanced gland. MRI of one patient (1/11, 9%) revealed bilateral enlargement of the AGs with T2W iso/hyperintensity, T1W isointensity, STIR hyperintensity, and strong and heterogeneous enhancement. Detection of these imaging findings on US, CT, and MRI may support the suspicion of adrenal involvement in the case of multicentric lymphoma in both dogs and cats.

Molecular Characterisation of the Nuclear Localisation Sequence Binding Properties of Toxoplasma gondii Importin α.

Mehta Diksha D, Banerjee Barnava B, Coulibaly Fasséli F, Wagstaff Kylie M KM et al.

The classical nuclear import pathway in eukaryotic cells is mediated by the importin (IMP) α and β1 heterodimer, where IMPα acts as an adaptor protein that recognises and binds to nuclear localisation signals (NLSs) on nuclear protein cargoes. IMPα from Toxoplasma gondii (TgIMPα), the causative agent of toxoplasmosis, is an essential gene and validated druggable target, but its NLS binding properties remain largely uncharacterised. To investigate the NLS binding properties of purified TgIMPα we designed NLS peptides and compared its properties with those of mammalian (mouse) IMPα by AlphaScreen binding assays. The well-characterised viral NLS from simian virus SV40 large tumour-antigen (T-ag NLS) was recognised by TgIMPα with low-nM binding affinity comparable to Mus musculus IMPα (MmIMPα), whereas a T. gondii-specific NLS from the GCN5 gene product (TgGCN5) exhibited high affinity binding to TgIMPα but not MmIMPα. Mutational analysis of basic residues within the NLSs indicated pronounced binding selectivity. To elucidate the structural basis of these interactions, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of an ab initio TgIMPα model bound to each NLS was performed. Key polar, salt-bridge, and cation-π interactions driving NLS recognition were identified. Critically, the lysine at position 2 (Lys128 in T-ag and Lys95 in TgGCN5) of each NLS engages conserved threonine and aspartate residues at the major binding site, playing an essential role in binding stability. Strikingly, TgIMPα displayed a more extensive and distinct cation-π interaction network than MmIMPα, revealing that, while the overall NLS binding architecture is conserved, specific pocket variations underlie differential high affinity recognition. Collectively, this study provides insights for the first time into the molecular distinctions in NLS binding between parasite and mammalian IMPα, potentially representing the foundation for future selective targeted drug design or peptidomimetic strategies against T. gondii.
